Project Description

PROJECT DETAILS

SIT successfully assisted its client to overcome challenges via development of a more compact and service-friendly product. For this project, SIT provided its customer with a completely redesigned HPU which was both modular and provided expanded functionality.

The primary challenge was sizing the assemblies to fit through a small manhole for integration and servicing. SIT rose to the occasion, achieving a successful first installation and then demonstrating proven field service capability with minimal tooling requirements.

Key Specs and Advantages:

  • Serviceability: 90% of components can be serviced and/or replaced with a simple crescent wrench and one size Allen key.
  • High-Pressure Manifold Design: Consolidated three skids into one, reducing footprint and weight by 30-40%, eliminating 85% of tubing and leakage points, and lowering system pressure drops to increase responsiveness & efficiency.
  • System Adjustability: Operating pressure is adjustable from 1500psi to 4500psi, with a max accumulator charge pressure of 6000psi.
  • Actuator Integration: Designed around the actuator’s performance capabilities, this allowed for a reduction in actuator size, system required volume, weight, installation, operating cost, and overall carbon footprint.
  • Modular Design: A standardized overall design reduced costs for engineering, documentation, and overall delivery.

Through innovative effort, SIT delivered a compact, service-friendly modular HPU that met the client’s needs and surpassed their expectations. The project showcases SIT’s ability to provide tailored solutions that enhance functionality, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency.
