- A custom engine driven central hydraulic system
- Various control valving for auxiliary deck equipment
- Integrated computer-based control system
Supreme Integrated Technology, Inc. (SIT) was awarded the opportunity to supply equipment needed on a multi-purpose vessel. The primary purpose of the vessel is to support a dredging fleet; handling anchors and towing barges wherever the fleet may be operating. For this particular project, SIT provided:
- A custom engine driven central hydraulic system
- Various control valving for auxiliary deck equipment
- Integrated computer-based control system
A diesel engine was selected as the prime mover for the central hydraulic system as it meets EPA final tier 4 certifications in full compliance with IMO Tier II. Hydraulic pumps are driven from a pump drive with a single input and three single pump outputs for open and closed loop circuitry. The hydraulic system is sized according to the consumption demands of various shipboard equipment to achieve the specified operational performance. SIT also supplied the integrated controls system operating the equipment.
The HPU is used to power the following on the vessel:
- Towing winch
- Anchor handling winch
- Towing pins
- Anchor windlass
- Forward towing winch
- Aft towing winch
- Forward crane
- Aft crane
Completing the project required creative solutions based on manufacturing experience and expertise, primarily provided through SIT’s in-house talent. Throughout the process, SIT was able to consolidate work usually addressed through numerous suppliers to provide a seamless project management experience for the customer and all parties involved. In addition to managing the integration of several components, SIT supplied on-site field support, ensuring full customer satisfaction.
Ultimately, SIT was able to exceed its customer’s expectations and deliver the high-quality components needed for a powerful vessel.
