PROJECT DETAILS
SIT proudly announces the substantial completion of commissioning the Grand Bayou floodgate, a key part of the Morganza-to-the-Gulf hurricane protection system. This system is designed to provide Category 3 storm surge protection to over 150,000 residents in coastal Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes.
The Grand Bayou Floodgate, featuring a 147-foot steel barge and 268 feet of new floodwall, was constructed with the help of Sealevel Construction Inc. and Conrad Industries. SIT’s scope included providing a turnkey integrated solution for operational control, involving a custom diesel engine pump skid assembly, a hydraulic reservoir, and specialized actuator assemblies for ballasting operations.
This project marks the first time a single integrator supplied most operational equipment, enhancing system integration and efficiency. SIT's comprehensive approach ensured a high-quality, safe, and functional system, demonstrating their commitment to impactful solutions for communities along the Gulf Coast and beyond.
