PROJECT DETAILS

SIT specializes in working on defense projects because of their ability to design systems which meet stringent requirements and their experience working with Military Standards and Shock/Vibration testing. SIT has designed and built ballast systems for several military vessels including:

  • Vessels that required ballast system for launching assets from the vessel.
  • Multiple ballast systems installed on large vessels used for normal operations and damage control.

SIT supplies the following components for military ballast systems:

  • Hydraulic Power Units – Often used to open and close valves on ballast tanks, built to compact size constraints, and required to pass Grade A or Grade B Shock tests.
  • Auxiliary Hydraulic Reservoirs – Comprised of specialized materials for strength and weight requirements.
  • Hydraulic Control Manifolds – Built to handle complex controls and often include redundancy for reliable operation of ballast systems.
  • Valve Assemblies – Valve and actuator assemblies which control the vital movement of ballast water throughout the ship.

SIT works with the client from the beginning of the design process to bring new ship designs to life. Often these new designs require considerations for hull mounted or deck mounted equipment, specialty materials for strength and weight requirements, and a comprehensive testing process to validate the equipment meets the specifications. The SIT team understands the requirements of ILS documentation and testing, making our team an excellent partner for the defense industry.
