SIT was awarded the opportunity to provide a stern gate to a large vessel. The primary purpose of a stern gate is to facilitate the loading and unloading of cargo, vehicles, or personnel. It acts as a ramp or door that allows direct access to the vessel's interior from a dock or the water.
Water Access: For certain military and research vessels, the stern gate allows small boats, amphibious vehicles, or underwater equipment to be launched and retrieved from the water.
Structural Integrity: When closed, the stern gate maintains the structural integrity and watertight condition of the vessel's stern, ensuring that the ship remains seaworthy and safe during transit.
Versatility in Operations: By enabling rapid and efficient loading and unloading, stern gates improve the versatility and operational efficiency of vessels, reducing turnaround times in ports and enhancing the overall logistics chain.
