Supreme Integrated Technology, Inc. (SIT), has joined forces with Space Perspective, the leading luxury space travel company in completing a new project. Starting in late 2024, Space Perspective Explorers will safely ascend to the edge of space in a climate-controlled, pressurized capsule, propelled by a SpaceBalloon™ rather than rockets, to experience the phenomenal beauty of Earth from space. The two companies are working together for retrieval operations of the capsule and its passengers at the conclusion of their space journey.
A large A-frame is needed to retrieve both the space capsule and the fast boat meeting the capsule from its specific landing location. Space Perspective was looking to retrofit an existing offshore service vessel (OSV) to accommodate this mission and needed to design a custom A-frame to accomplish the task. SIT was willing to assist with the design, starting from a “rough sketch idea” while working with Space Perspective to determine the specifications to make this system safer, including having it meet the recommended ship classification to ensure safety for space travelers.

The entire design required creativity from the SIT engineering team in collaboration with the Space Perspective engineers to ensure passenger safety and deliver a smooth, comfortable transport from capsule to the OSV. SIT’s scope of supply included:
- A-frame structure
- Luffing cylinders
- Retrieval winch
- Two tugger winches
- Hydraulic power unit
