PROJECT DETAILS

CS Controls, a division of SIT, secured a significant contract to supply a steering gear system for a military project.

  • Steering Gear System
    • A key component provided by CS Controls is the steering gear system, featuring two low-pressure rotary vane actuators, hydraulic power units, and a comprehensive steering control system. This unitized design simplifies installation and delivers over 1,170,000 ft/lb of torque, making it one of the largest steering systems of its kind. The system also includes a "Dual Rudder Angle" option for enhanced maneuverability.
  • Engine Room Cranes
    • CS Controls also designed and supplied unique overhead bridge cranes for the ESB’s engine room. These underhung, slewing bridge cranes have a span of over thirty-four feet and a travel distance of fifty feet, capable of lifting 3.5 metric tons. These cranes are vital for maintenance and rebuilding the ship's main engines.
  • Provision Cranes
    • Two pedestal-mounted provision cranes were provided by CS Controls for cargo operations. These cranes, with a lifting capacity of 5 metric tons and a reach of up to 17 meters, are equipped with remote controls for precise handling during loading and unloading.
  • Mooring Equipment
    • CS Controls supplied mooring chocks, bitts, and roller fairleads. These components are customizable to meet specific shipyard requirements, ensuring secure mooring under various conditions.
  • Shipboard Clock System
    • CS Controls provided a centralized shipboard clock system, with a main panel on the bridge and forty secondary clocks throughout the ship. This system ensures synchronized operations, crucial for mission coordination.
  • Pump Skids
    • Various air-driven pump skids were supplied by CS Controls to transfer fluids throughout the ship. These skids are custom-designed to meet specific needs, ensuring reliable performance during extended missions.

This project is a testament to the strategic importance of innovation and engineering excellence in modern military operations. CS Controls has been instrumental in supplying critical systems that enhance capabilities, from advanced steering gear and cranes to robust mooring equipment and synchronized clock systems. The contributions of CS Controls ensure that these ships remain at the cutting edge of military technology.
